Ian R. Cavin, DO
General Surgery
Dr. Cavin joins Granger Medical Clinic after 10 years of working with MountainStar Healthcare. He grew up in the Salt Lake area and is happy to be back home. He is passionate about taking care of people and loves to make a difference in the lives of his patients. Dr. Cavin currently serves on several committees at both St. Mark’s hospital and the St. Mark’s Outpatient Surgical Center as well as at Lone Peak Hospital where he was the first Surgical Department chair.
Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, Dr. Cavin performs minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic and robotic) for: the gallbladder, appendix, hernias, skin and soft tissue. He also performs preventive screenings including: breast cancer screenings and colonoscopies.
Dr. Cavin loves to teach his patients about the disease processes for which they have seen him. He is insistent that they understand what the options for treatment are and what each option may or may not provide. He feels that his role is to educate his patients enough that they can make a good decision about what is best for themselves. He wants each of his patients to feel that they can ask any question and that they have all the time they need.
When not practicing medicine, he is busy at home with five children. He also looks forward to an occasional getaway that will allow him to go SCUBA diving.
